圧倒的なGO!! & Charleston isn’t all that bad

I’ve lived in Charleston for a bit more than 2 months now. I gotta say, it is not a bad place to live. Sure, coming over here was expensive, and I did get my car broken into during my first month….. but it is not all that bad.

I think that I can live anywhere really. I like having high-speed internet and having the ability to run. I like having the option of having anime and manga imported and being able to be shipped to my address. There isn’t many places in the US where all those things aren’t possible. I should be good whether I stay in Charleston or more somewhere else.

So… can I live here for 4 years? Definitely. Do I still want to move? Yes, I do want to travel a bit more before I settle down. However, this has shown me a bit more about what I like and a bit more about my self in return. I am grateful for this experience.

Finally. Note the amazing song. Attouteki Yuugi hasn’t came in yet. Hope its fun.

epic fail

March 25, 2012

Bottom Line for me: Once I slip, I fall down HARD.

So, I’m doing this diet lately. Trying to lose some fat before I head off to see my family and friends back in Seattle. Go me, very ambitious, yada yada. Anyways, I was doing quite well for a week, until this Sunday.

Today I went into the mall and bought myself a high caloric chinese combo meal. Lots of meat and noodles, which I’m sure was prepared using tons of oils and such. Great, now I just injested a whole ton of fats and carbs. Counter productive much?

Well thats not the half of it, now that I actually tasted “this” again, I start craving more sugars (sugar is my main weakness I know.) So I go and order a maple butter blondie. Which tastes delicious as well. So now I added THAT to my daily caloric intake. Jesus Christ.

So again, bottom line for me when I’m dieting…. just go cold turkey. Once I open the gates, the flood rushes in. Its like the old saying where people ask, “can you just eat one potato chip?”

Well, you know what? I cannot eat just one. I believe I have a firm understanding of that now. However, thats okay. I know this now. So, I’m going to try to go back on my diet. I’m aiming to lose about a pound a week if possible (3500 calorie deficient). I weight 162 pounds currently at 6’0. This weight can fluctuate greatly due to absence or presence of water weight and glycogen storage.

I want to be 150 pounds, and fairly lean by the end of May. That is what I’m shooting for. To do this, I’m going to cut off empty carbs completely. I’ll intake fruits, vegetables, and whole grain / high fiber foods as my carb sources. I believe I intake enough protein to sustain muscle mass, however… I think I’ll do a 30 minute run / 45 min muscle resistance type exercise from now on. I just do not have the glycogen storage neccessary to run long distances with this diet I think.

Its hard. Its very hard to keep at a set low 1600ish daily caloric load. Hope I can make it. I’m going to avoid mirrors from now on and stop “body checking.” I hope that by the end of May I don’t look like skin and bone. I’m targeting fat, but when you cut calories (your main source of energy) its very possible that the body switches to both fatty acids AND amino acids within muscle. I’m not cutting off carbs completely by any means, so the switch to amino acids as the main source probably shouldn’t happen.

I think imma go get one last heavy carb diet, and then its Kuroko-esq like no intake of empty calories… Man lets hope this works out well. I’m really afraid of eating alot of calories over my training trips. I better make sure I’m with somebody at all times during those periods.

been playing alot of NIS games lately

March 13, 2012

Title says it all. I’ve been playing a whole bunch of old NIS JRPGs lately. I haven’t really seen such a good JRPG publisher since Working Designs.  I like how in Ar Tonelico the localization team has been adding in some US jokes into their translation. Lunar 2 was the perfect example of this. I haven’t been doing any proper reviews of the video games I play, and maybe I should go ahead and get on that. However- the important thing is that I just want to catalog these amazing games that I’ve played. Hope I never forget the awesome new classics like Mana Khemia and Disgaea.

In family news, my sis and her boyfriend are switching up their career goals a bit. Sis wants to open up a catering business, and her boyfriend just wants to actually just get into business.

Sis is working at US Bank right now. She won’t graduate for another year, so she has quite a bit of time to think about what she wishes to do and all that stuff. I just hope she is eating decently. She had her gallstones removed just a week ago, (and her gallbladder along with it.) Hope all is well with sis.

Finally, seems like I’ll be in Mobile, Al in a month for some yob training. Looking forward to some fun and some traveling. I’ll bring my camera and take some shots.

Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 was great

March 11, 2012

Anyone else check out Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2. I had just got the true ending this morning, and it was that game that sort of added the last straw which made me make this damn blog.

The characters are all sooooo moe. Its delicious. But whats more, the game actually has some fun characters that are actually interesting. I won’t say so much as for character development. Neptune will always be neptune. However, Nep Jr. did grow quite a bit throughout. She’s great!

I do not know if this series will stay afloat for much longer. There is a manga adaption going on in Japan right now by Famitsu, but without a game to back it up the manga plot might just falter. Perhaps they will do another alternate dimension with new characters. Gag mangas like Neptune which will be using the same characters with no character development can probably only last four manga volumes at the most.

The heroine of justice has arrived!

March 11, 2012

The Choujigen blog is operational! I do not know how long this particular blog will last, but I truly hope that it lasts a long time.

To get things rolling, right now I am working at the Army Corps of Engineers, Charleston District. I was really lucky to get this position as a GS-5. Its not a lot of money right now, but I get a raise every year and I’ll become a GS-11 someday. When that day comes I hope to save up quite a bit of money. For what I’ll use that money for… I’ll probably know more about that once the time comes.

The people and job in Charleston are all fair. I like them, but I do not go out of my way to actually meet up with people outside of work. Sort of living the Hikkikomori lifestyle right now. Well, Hikkikomori is wrong, because that implies that I do not work. I work, but I’m a shut-in. As soon as I get done with work its either off to the gym or straight home. They should totally create some type of word for shut-ins like me.

As for my side projects.. I mostly just try to stay current on what anime, manga, and games I can get my hands on that come out from the otaku culture side of Japan. I’ll be reviewing those throughout my blog. I also try to do translation works. I seriously hope I get better at translations eventually…..
