Bottom Line for me: Once I slip, I fall down HARD.
So, I’m doing this diet lately. Trying to lose some fat before I head off to see my family and friends back in Seattle. Go me, very ambitious, yada yada. Anyways, I was doing quite well for a week, until this Sunday.
Today I went into the mall and bought myself a high caloric chinese combo meal. Lots of meat and noodles, which I’m sure was prepared using tons of oils and such. Great, now I just injested a whole ton of fats and carbs. Counter productive much?
Well thats not the half of it, now that I actually tasted “this” again, I start craving more sugars (sugar is my main weakness I know.) So I go and order a maple butter blondie. Which tastes delicious as well. So now I added THAT to my daily caloric intake. Jesus Christ.
So again, bottom line for me when I’m dieting…. just go cold turkey. Once I open the gates, the flood rushes in. Its like the old saying where people ask, “can you just eat one potato chip?”
Well, you know what? I cannot eat just one. I believe I have a firm understanding of that now. However, thats okay. I know this now. So, I’m going to try to go back on my diet. I’m aiming to lose about a pound a week if possible (3500 calorie deficient). I weight 162 pounds currently at 6’0. This weight can fluctuate greatly due to absence or presence of water weight and glycogen storage.
I want to be 150 pounds, and fairly lean by the end of May. That is what I’m shooting for. To do this, I’m going to cut off empty carbs completely. I’ll intake fruits, vegetables, and whole grain / high fiber foods as my carb sources. I believe I intake enough protein to sustain muscle mass, however… I think I’ll do a 30 minute run / 45 min muscle resistance type exercise from now on. I just do not have the glycogen storage neccessary to run long distances with this diet I think.
Its hard. Its very hard to keep at a set low 1600ish daily caloric load. Hope I can make it. I’m going to avoid mirrors from now on and stop “body checking.” I hope that by the end of May I don’t look like skin and bone. I’m targeting fat, but when you cut calories (your main source of energy) its very possible that the body switches to both fatty acids AND amino acids within muscle. I’m not cutting off carbs completely by any means, so the switch to amino acids as the main source probably shouldn’t happen.
I think imma go get one last heavy carb diet, and then its Kuroko-esq like no intake of empty calories… Man lets hope this works out well. I’m really afraid of eating alot of calories over my training trips. I better make sure I’m with somebody at all times during those periods.
